I want to make something clear because I was alive then and watched the stuff on tv. We all knew these were recreations. The television stations told us these were recreations because they didn't have live cameras for much of this including even the Apollo missions. Much of the film you see today from the Apollo missions was filmed that was brought back in canisters and developed back on Earth but you didn't see it live during the mission. What the networks then did would they either had animations or they did what this guy did which was have some studios to put on a demonstration of what the astronauts were doing but they never claim that this was the actual space footage that was happening in space at that time.


It was merely something to show you on TV while the actual space walks or Moon missions were happening that they could not show you. They weren't trying to fool us and pretend these were real and we weren't stupid for watching them we knew they weren't real. But the news coverage of these first rocket launches and the first space walks was off and alive and it would go on for 24 hours or longer for however long a mission was going on in the beginning. That was true during Apollo 11 and it was true during Gemini which I think this is a Gemini mission. But they never tried to tell us that this was the real footage.
