Like a majority of modern so-called 'Christians', I think the Catholics are just in it for the social posturing. Otherwise the hypocrisy and anti-biblical doctrine would be too off-putting.

There are plenty of cult groups out there. Mormons, scientologists, tax cattle, and even wackier belief systems are proof that people are easily influenced and mind controlled.
