Somehow this is the fault of global warming.

[ - ] Lophan 0 points 2 monthsMar 30, 2025 21:58:16 ago (+0/-0)

Fucking global warming...

[ - ] bossman131 0 points 2 monthsMar 31, 2025 08:15:37 ago (+0/-0)

Keep driving your cars and having kids instead of killing yourself to save the planet.
What they refuse to admit is that Planet Earth has experienced ice ages followed by warming numerous times, all occurring before humans existed or had any significant influence on the world around them.

Sounds fun

[ - ] bobdole9 3 points 2 monthsMar 30, 2025 19:18:11 ago (+3/-0)

That's some spectacular bullshit.

[ - ] Sleazy [op] 1 point 2 monthsMar 30, 2025 19:22:34 ago (+1/-0)

what do you mean Bob?

[ - ] bobdole9 2 points 2 monthsMar 30, 2025 19:46:12 ago (+2/-0)

I HATE ICE. It's the most bullshit of the winter precipitation.

And fucking hell, that's a lot.

Spectacular bullshit!

Same. Made it through an ice storm in IA when I was a kid. Power out for a week and ya can't go anywhere because it's too dangerous to drive.

Is this a part of the "Lake effect" I read about?

Stay warm,I hope you have a fireplace.

[ - ] Sleazy [op] 3 points 2 monthsMar 30, 2025 19:07:19 ago (+3/-0)

No, this is not lake effect, this is just what happens in April when the temperatures are hovering right at the freezing point and it's warmer in the upper atmosphere where it comes down as rain but at ground level its just below the freezing point. I think the wind from the south has a lot to do with it and the wind has been relentless from the south like 20 mph and up

[ - ] xmasskull 3 points 2 monthsMar 30, 2025 19:11:59 ago (+3/-0)

Thanks,I live in the South, the last time it snowed here(2.1)inches,my city was shut down.

[ - ] Sleazy [op] 2 points 2 monthsMar 30, 2025 19:23:20 ago (+2/-0)

you're welcome. At least it's not coming down as hail, that's worse than this

[ - ] bobdole9 1 point 2 monthsMar 30, 2025 19:48:20 ago (+1/-0)

Hail means the surface temperatures are above freezing. With enough lift and water collection, softball sized bombs can come down.

Sleet just hurts.

Everything glazed sucks more.

[ - ] Sleazy [op] 2 points 2 monthsMar 30, 2025 19:49:26 ago (+2/-0)

Thats the opposite of what we have today. Hail is more a summer thing

[ - ] bobdole9 2 points 2 monthsMar 30, 2025 19:51:15 ago (+2/-0)

Sleet (rain hit with surface air temperatures below freezing) hurts.

With enough wind it's almost getting sandblasted with tiny marbles.

[ - ] Sleazy [op] 2 points 2 monthsMar 30, 2025 19:56:07 ago (+2/-0)

Or on my motorcycle, sleet is no fun.

[ - ] Sleazy [op] 2 points 2 monthsMar 30, 2025 19:08:09 ago (+2/-0)

the whole world is covered with almost an inch of ice

[ - ] bobdole9 2 points 2 monthsMar 30, 2025 19:19:05 ago (+2/-0)

How long before temperatures stay above freezing?

[ - ] Sleazy [op] 1 point 2 monthsMar 30, 2025 19:22:22 ago (+1/-0)

well they been getting above during the day and below over night, so probably tomorrow

[ - ] clymer 2 points 2 monthsMar 30, 2025 20:13:00 ago (+2/-0)

We lost power from the ice storm here in south western NH. After taking a
stroll down the road and hearing all of the backup generators running
that kicked on, I thought I would pass this along in case anyone is
interested. I picked up this setup (including 240v hub) a while back
and I just switch my gentran switch over to backup power, this setup
works great. It beats running through expensive propane (I get
24 hours on a charge, given current power usage which
includes boiler, heat, outlets, refrigerator, well pump, etc). Recharging these
things takes about an hour from 0% (you can power the house from
outside generator while you charge them - then switch back over to
these from outside generator. Saves a lot of fuel..), you can set
these up so that they are automated and even run in UPS mode.

[ - ] CHIRO 2 points 2 monthsMar 30, 2025 19:42:56 ago (+2/-0)

I'm south of you. We are getting the thunderstorm part of that system. Looks like we were pretty fucking lucky.

[ - ] Sleazy [op] 2 points 2 monthsMar 30, 2025 19:48:20 ago (+2/-0)

Im surprised my power is still on

[ - ] Sector2 1 point 2 monthsMar 30, 2025 19:51:20 ago (+1/-0)

An ice storm on top of deep snow is the most amazing thing. You can ice skate on the snow.

I left snow and ice a couple thousand miles behind in 1981.

[ - ] Sleazy [op] 1 point 2 monthsMar 30, 2025 19:52:23 ago (+1/-0)

We dont have any snow, its been mild on snow this winter

[ - ] HonkyMcNiggerSpic 0 points 2 monthsMar 30, 2025 21:40:59 ago (+0/-0)
