I should have said Tabor City as we were discussing that part of the world...
Tabor used to be a rough patch in the road with a caution sign - BUT it was just across state line and you could buy booze Saturday night after 12AM so Folks drifted up there to get fucked-up and rowdy.... That's where the Bloody bucket used to be.

As a kid in eastern North Carolina, I knew several Lumbee Indians. Again alter as a trucker, I knew one Lumbee long-haul trucker. All of them seemed okay at the time despite the often impoverished situations in that area.
