Do not feed or molest

Florida man plus some meth is likely the culprit for that second item.

Certain they mean it in the "bother" sense, but I couldn't help but have the same thought and laugh. Only in Florida do they warn you not to fuck the gators!

As said by a Myakka State Park Boat Tour guide: "The gator's have a brain the size of a walnut. Once you feed them they have to be put down. They think the food fell off a human and they want the rest of it."

If that is the little lake I think it is, I test boats in there all the time using the nice park/ramp off of Park…
Better than going in the saltwater in the ICW and having to flush the motors and wash them down…

Buddy of mine lives right behind the park/lake where the homeless lady was killed by the gator and body pulled from the canal.
He has had the gators crawl right over his chain link fence in the late spring/early summer when they are on the hunt for gator-pussy….

That's the place!

Lake Seminole

[ - ] Steelerfish 1 point 3 weeksApr 2, 2025 22:25:03 ago (+1/-0)*

It’s been years, but I used to go fish the spillway after heavy rains with live shrimp and slay snook.. They would be “drunk”:from, the fresh water overflow and bite anything that moved….

And used to go gigging for founder with headlights on the kayak up that canal behind bay pines marina….

Ahh the good old days.

Just give em a toothbrush.

The rare 12-14 ft dinosaur pops up occasionally.

You don't want to be on the menu

If con’s around, the alligators will probably get molested. 😁

[ - ] con77 [op] 2 points 4 weeksApr 2, 2025 15:16:09 ago (+2/-0)

Probably? Did you see my moustache?

[ - ] PostWallHelena 1 point 4 weeksApr 2, 2025 16:22:55 ago (+1/-0)

yes I did. Do you have a tee shirt that says, “Free Moustache Rides” by any chance? 👨🏻

No but if you buy me one I'll wear it

[ - ] dingbat 2 points 4 weeksApr 2, 2025 11:28:41 ago (+2/-0)

That sounds like a fantastic hobby, especially in the mangroves! So much cool wildlife (except for the gators and other predators, of course) to enjoy 😎

MANGROVES ARE IN SALT WATER AND ARE PROBABLY THE SAFEST PLACE. the intracoastal is beautiful here.

there was a guy killed while diving off his dock here almost 10 years ago by a bullshark.

A FEW PEOPLE HAVE BEEN BITTEN BUT YOU HAVE A BETTER CHANCE OF GETTING HIT BY LIGHTENING.

I saw a 12 ft hammerhead in tampa bay while kayaking . I dont go there anymore.

[ - ] Sector2 -1 points 4 weeksApr 2, 2025 12:18:07 ago (+1/-2)

Coastal California, including the Bay Area, is known for having some of the least lightning activity in the United States, and even the world.

No tornadoes, hurricanes, or alligators either.

Just white liberal socialists running the place, taco niggers everywhere, niggers, earthquakes, wildfires, $6.50/gal gas…..

And Southern California had a typhoon/tropical storm just last year if I’m not mistaken….

[ - ] Sector2 0 points 4 weeksApr 2, 2025 12:46:38 ago (+1/-1)

35 years since the last earthquake. Nigs are 1.9%. There are mexicans. Last needed to purchase gas around 2007. While annoying, the white liberal socialists have not affected the weather, geology, or superior nature of this area, and there's no requirement to interact with them.

Also, often the "most unaffordable" jurisdiction in the continental US. No decent person goes to Southern California.

Cold water

[ - ] Sector2 -1 points 4 weeksApr 2, 2025 12:48:34 ago (+0/-1)

53F. It's the secret sauce that makes it so great.

Just Great White Sharks, Killer Elephant Seals And Sea Lions To Name Three...

[ - ] Sector2 -1 points 4 weeksApr 2, 2025 13:58:36 ago (+0/-1)

I can hear the sea lions barking from my back porch. They lie on the cross beams supporting the pier pilings. Elephant Seals do come up onto land, but they just lie there on the beach at most. I've never encountered a Great White Shark around town because they never come out of the water.

Aside from the politics and the insane cost of living, you simply cannot beat costal California in terms of weather and beauty. I’m with you!

[ - ] Sector2 1 point 4 weeksApr 2, 2025 13:27:58 ago (+1/-0)

I’m with you!

We can hang out and avoid the maskers! Going to hit the farmers market today, then go see Foundring and my neighbor play at the brewery tonight. None of the spicy jew stuff though.

Give "Troy" a call.

Choot-em!

[ - ] TheSimulacra 1 point 4 weeksApr 2, 2025 14:20:22 ago (+1/-0)

There is a lake 30 minutes up the mountain and an hour hike from my place. No trails to it, tucked into a canyon in the middle of a forest. No people, no crocs....its incredible.
Perfect paddleboarding lake, although the hike down and back might be a pain...have backpacked and camped there a few times.

Is molesting gators a problem down there?

[ - ] con77 [op] 1 point 4 weeksApr 2, 2025 15:15:21 ago (+1/-0)

Occasionally

[ - ] Peleg 1 point 4 weeksApr 2, 2025 13:37:23 ago (+1/-0)

I got hooked on watching swamp people. I would absolutely love to do me some gator hunting. I know that's a little to the west of you but, I wouldn't care which state I'm in as long as I get to "Choot-em!"

[ - ] Stonkmar 1 point 4 weeksApr 2, 2025 12:34:47 ago (+1/-0)

Launch it there, just don't fall.

[ - ] Master_Foo 0 points 4 weeksApr 2, 2025 16:22:09 ago (+0/-0)

Something tells me that molesting an alligator isn't going to go the way you want it to go.
