Assuming one can take the assessments of their adversaries at face value - and that is pretty much all we know of them - there are several problems.
1. They got genocided. Not exactly a great look for their opponents.
2. Unlike today medieval Europe was full of religious fanatics in the broader society.
3. Unlike today the broader society had not undergone mass pornification and decades of sexual revolution.
4. If the charges are true they engaged in unnecessary plundering. That need not necessarily be the case today. Requisitioning need not necessarily be part of a guerrilla movement.
