A weird phrase is plaguing scientific papers – and we traced it back to a glitch in AI training data

The phrase is "vegetative electron microscopy" and it was created by scanning errors in the early names of scanning paper documents into computers. Most of the article is angst about the scientific literature getting corrupted.

Lol no we infected the ai's with our autism. All your bases belong to us.

You can see right through all these nonsense phrases if you use quantitative compact reasoning.

AI is not intelligence

I use AI a lot to write software these days. An artifact or mistake can carry on to different AI's as well. Meaning, if I give 3 different AI code to clean up, and there is a fundamental syntax error in the middle of the mundane code, it doesn't recognize it and keeps it. I have to manually fix it.

I've noticed this myself.

Isn't that a very pajeet thing to do?

AI is very useful. There are few original problems and AI can streamline simple ones. Like stack exchange on steroids.

That's what people aren't getting, or refuse to open their eyes. Ai in regards to coding, is just doing the leg work of grabbing code from github and stack exchange and shoving it into your code. Any novel solution is still on the developer.

Adapt or die, sounds like you're dead. If you're a software developer and not using it, you'll be out of work in 6 months to a year.

I'm not a software dev, have no desire to be. Using Linux provides enough of a challenge when I need to figure something out.

So you're completely ignorant of the things you hold strong sentiment for. Classic. Calling me a fucking curry nigger because I'm using a tool is ridiculous. It's like talking shit to a carpenter because he uses a drill instead of a screw driver.

Where the fuck did you get that idea?

"Finding errors of this sort is not easy. Fixing [AI] may be almost impossible."

Why fix it? Just have them process this article.

Fascinating article. Thanks for posting.
