“Panama City council has just voted in favor of becoming the first public institution of government to accept payments in Crypto. Citizens will now be able to pay taxes, fees, tickets and permits entirely in crypto starting with BTC, ETH, USDC, USDT.”

“We will soon become the first public institution in the country to allow payment for municipal services in cryptocurrency, through an authorized bank that will be responsible for converting the proceeds into dollars for the Mayor’s Office.”

“Deal’s being signed next week at the Blockchain conf in Panama. Look out for signing of the deal next week.”

Get some Bitcoin while you still can.

It's obvious it will become one of the worlds reserve currencies.

Imagine being able to buy a piece of the federal reserve back in the beginning.

This is like that.

I think everybody in Panama who can pay the government in crypto should do so. Why? Because, eventually, all cryptos, including Bitcoin, are going to zero. Give government something that allegedly has value now that will be worthless later.




THIS IS PRETTY FUNNY! I retired to Panama years ago. Great country with very friendly people. However, they can barely keep the electricity on and have problem with very simple things like how to build a proper road. This seems way past their competence level.

Bitcoin isnt anonymous so it will end up being worse as far as trackability is concerned and yes this is an attempt to get westerners to abandon cash for something more easily trackable.
