Are bears fairly docile I guess when they've been raised from birth by humans? I have spent a week in the Alaskan wilderness (up in the Gates of the Arctic NP) and the main thing I got trained for was how to escape / avoid grizzlies, especially mama bears. I always think of that guy who lived with the bears and then they ate him. How is this bear not eating this guy? I have many questions as you can see

So I'll tell you what I know with my limited knowledge.

Polar bears are the most dangerous. They actively hunt humans. They don't care.

Most bears don't want anything to do with people and will avoid them at all costs.

Yes do not fuck with momma bears when they have babies.

I'm sure they can be pretty docile but with any large animal like that and largely wild, you never know what's gonna make them snap. Like farmers with bulls. Pretty chill most of the time but when they decide to fuck something up get out of the way.

Lots of 'bear people' end up eaten. I wouldn't try to domesticate such an animal outside of specialized areas for it. Letting it in your home is a very bad idea.

...believe me, bears are typically lazy fucks...until they have to exercise authority but they don't want trouble, they prefer peace...and to think that at one time I hunted these animals. The only way I'll shoot a bear today is if it's uncontrollable, ill or badly injured. In all these years, including last year's problem bear, there was only two times that I was going to drop a bear, only once I had the 30-06 ready but the bear never came back and last year's problem bear got a maple pole in the ribs but my .44mag was just about out of the holster and if my gun is drawn it's going off, didn't want to do it but if necessary it's gonna happen...but it didn't come to that.

I can relate...yesterday I spent much of the afternoon with one of my bears "Mishka" and her two cubs, she's undersized as are her cubs and she was somewhat shunned from the clan last year and I didn't think the cubs would make it through hibernation, but they did, still undersized with spindly legs and protruding rib cage but all of them are well mannered, I sat with them and rested my legs on Mishka's back as she laid at my feet with cubs to my side...when I get up she sits up on her ass and extends her paw to me...I got sneezed on at one point and that's messy but I can live with that...right now I've got 5 bears on my deck and lawn...because of the cubs, Brutus has to vacate the area but will return probably mid June which is normal bear behavior, he knows not to stir shit with the cubs because things get ugly. I stay in my yard camp/sauna next to my house and my standard bears will get my attention just like in this vid clip...me and my bears have been together a long time and I'm still amazed at the things they do.
