Charles was roman-catholic fwiw. I feel like he wanted to be a less-beat fueled alan ginsberg, imo ended up more like somewhere south of a modern day chaucer.

Catholic, atheist, and then dabbled in Buddhism. It is not even entirely clear he was 1/4 Jewish. But it seems to me likely. Wiki is a bit ambiguous.

Bukowski is a Polish name.

At any rate it gets really boring seeing threads set in reductionist terms. There is more to the world of ideas than Jews and pedos. I know he wrote some kiddie-suspect stuff. But beyond that he was a useful unorthodox thinker, which is to say a non-bourgeois thinker. That transcends any relevance about Jews.

1/4 Jewish and accused in some quarters of being an anti-Semite and Nazi sympathizer.

Dunno about the child-raping part. He fucked lots of girls. That's for sure. Knowing this crowd if the girl was a month under 18 he was a pedo.

One critic has described Bukowski's fiction as a "detailed depiction of a certain taboo male fantasy: the uninhibited bachelor, slobby, anti-social, and utterly free", an image he tried to live up to with sometimes riotous public poetry readings and boorish party behavior.[38] A few critics and commentators[39] also supported the idea that Bukowski was a cynic, as a man and a writer. Bukowski denied being a cynic, stating: "I've always been accused of being a cynic. I think cynicism is sour grapes. I think cynicism is a weakness."
