Weighted vest. Should I get one?

submitted by CoronaHoax to AskUpgoat 1 weekApr 23, 2025 19:47:31 ago (+11/-0)     (AskUpgoat)

I do simple dumbbell from the floor to the ceiling workouts at home which double slightly as a squat. From what I can tell I can really only hold about 35-45 lbs in each hand for the entire duration of the 10 minute workout. So leg wise I could use more weight.

Also I'm figuring it might be good for push ups and calf raises etc. Maybe even for running.

Thanks!

I did.

But truthfully I don't use it very much, cus its a pain to put on, and its uncomfortable to wear.

I Started rucking a few months ago, started with a backpack and water bottles for weight, when I got past 10lb I got a ruck pack made for weights. I'm up to 45lb and two miles, I hope to get to 5 miles soon. https://www.goruck.com

Down the hill and back up, right? That’s a tough walk.

What pack did you get?

This would indeed help make you stronger. It would also permanently label you a weeaboo.

Yeah you should get one, they're great. Mine goes up to 80lbs but I keep it at 40 and hold dumbbells like you mentioned. Lunges, squats, pushups, dips, pullups.

That depends on what your training goals and budget are. However, before you open up your wallet for that you should first go for long walks with heavy weight in a backpack first. You'll want to see how well your joints hold up to the additional weight, especially your knees. Most guys who lift have some free weight plates to work with and old backpacks to dig up for this sort of thing.

It's useful kit.

Find a book called Never Gymless.

Its more for hiking but you can just use your backpack to add weight anyway, waste of money

Are you training to do special beam cannon?
