Why is it a Texas law that you can't embargo Israel?
I think you're missing the point, even if you're correct to criticize her reporting.
I don't care if San Marcos wanted to redistribute the $4 million to its residents, put it toward a new concert arena, or launch it into outer fucking space.
Why are municipal governments not permitted sovereign discretion over what to do with their own resident's money?
Suppose there are two houses, A and B, across the street from your home. What would you think if you found out that house A consistently gave money to house B from their disposable income? If you ask "the Man" of house A why this is the case, and he says, "I have to," what are you going to assume? House B controls house A. That's the problem here, not whether San Marcos wanted to do dumb shit with their money. It's about whether it's the citizens' money being used for the citizens' benefit. Granted, we're dealing with two levels of problem here. I live in house A along with all of my other fellow Americans. I want tax dollars used intelligently. But before we get to that analysis, I want to make sure my money isn't being redirected to somebody from a different fucking family.
You can't have municipalities picking and choosing what their share of federal taxes pay for. If they had a say in that kind of shit, how would we fund abortions and nigger phones and welfare and israel?
No. I'm not missing the point. Yes. It's fucked up that 23 states have anti-BDS laws on the books. It's equally fucked up that cities, like San Marcos, as well as businesses throughout the state, aren't filing lawsuit after lawsuit to challenge these laws. Force SCOTUS to hear a case. Not let them decline as they have in the past.
But it is a law, here in Texas, and Abbott couldn't be more pro-Israel. He may be worse than DeSantis in that way. However, the reporter is full of shit about why San Marcos wanted to pull funds from Israel investments. San Marcos wanted to set public policy that's clearly anti-Israel and call for a boycott in violation of that law. It would seem that San Marcos could repurpose those funds if they wanted to, finding better use for the money. But what San Marcos can't do is use their town hall to call for an embargo on Israel, which is what they did.
You realize that you don't translate names of towns when referring to the name of the town, right? The town is San Marcos, not Saint Markos, but because that dumb lazy bish didn't bother to know that, she clearly didn't know that she's full of shit and doesn't know the facts, either. The town counsel wants to boycott Israel, which will result, under Texas law, in the cancelation of contracts with the State of Texas. They aren't trying to repurpose $4M to use for other things. They are virtue signaling about Gaza during city business.
The town didn’t discover in an audit that it was sending money to Israel. They calculated out of federal taxes that were being paid statistically how much of that came from within the county. The person in the video makes it sound like they were directly sending the money.

San Marcos.

And, she's a liar. San Marcos was not trying to repurpose $4M. They were seeking to embargo Israel, which is against Texas state law.

Politicians need to start dying en masse.
