When he finally gets there she's dead, where after he lapses into a period of alcoholic remorse .. not for me, it remains a mystery why so many singers / bands / groups have covered it.

Be nice to Tiny Tim, haha. There's something oddly pleasant about "Tiptoe". I realize it's pretty roundly panned, but I can't help it. I hear it once, and it's in my head all day. It's similar to Melanie's "Brand New Key". Those high notes don't sound comfortable, but for some reason they work.
