The primary selling point for cloud services is that they're wireless and mobile. Unfortunately, the most obvious problem for cloud services is that they're wireless and mobile. The other issue is that most people are stupid, even technologists. As long as stupid people are involved either in the development, or utilization, of cloud services, then it's reasonable to conclude that it will be impossible to have effective security solutions to any cloud service network.
Looking at AWS, its a classic case of shitification of the individual services. You want security? Well you need a VPC, then you need cognito, then you need a resource account layer in between, firewall rules. Want cognito to operated with PSQL? Well now you need RDS, a virtual machine, elasticache (cause the base system is shit) layer on top of the existing bullshit. Before you know it, you have 25 services doing who knows when all you wanted was a simple identity management solution with a db
The other issue is that most people are stupid, even technologists.
Especially technologists. I've arrived at the conclusion that the number of people who actually meaningfully understand digital technology is a pathetically tiny population. And, of that population, too many of them accept paychecks from the devil.
