They're cutting all the people they hired for projects that are now redundant because they bought 10 other companies that also have those jobs and just got past the original corporate buyout agreement to not fire them till said projects were complete.
I knew back in 1999 that there was no way I was going to work in technology, despite the fact that it was my interest. I chose education because I expected the economy to crash and for tech workers to become a dime a dozen. I was largely correct.
