As soon as your internal combustion engine stops running, it starts cooling. As soon as it starts cooling, it draws in moisture. Cycling that intake and expulsion of moisture several times in a 20 minute drive is what's really doing harm. And I don't care what the engineers say, engaging the starter many times per drive is going to wear a lot of components quicker. Doing away with start-stop function is a good first step to bring quality back to the market.
The battery replacement for the auto-start/Stop battery in my wife's jeep is $575. It's a $250 battery at the dealership that you can buy elsewhere for $175 and is a total fuckin' bitch to get to.
