I've thought about the "consent" thing in a different way.

Suppose in heaven or the aether, there are a bunch of souls waiting for bodies to inhabit for a lifetime. Since souls are forever, there may be several lives for each one, if reincarnation is a thing.

But when a child is conceived, the souls go through a selection process and see the entire life of that person, and one soul selects that body.
