Weed control solutions

We get insane weeds up here and preen only lasts a month if I buy the 6 month shit, Monsanto shit works but you have to spray every 3 weeks or so, what do you guys do.

I'm stuck pulling weeds an hour a day basically all summer because the shit I sprayed didn't work.

Flameweeders are more fun than pulling weeds and it burns the seeds too, instead of spreading them around when you yank out the pesky plants.
Salt is also a good weedkiller. Most hardware stores have big bags of cheap salt used for pools.
Vinegar will make the ground acidic, stopping the roots from up taking nutrients.
Black plastic smothers plants really well, especially if it's hot during the day where you are.
Hot water is good at damaging roots.
Goats are awesome at weed control and actually promote healthy grass growth.
Also, children make great legal slave labor, but only if they're yours

Yeah the flamething is too dangerous to use around where I'm at, also it think illegal.

I've sprayed 10 gallons of undiluted 30% vinegar with salt and dish soap using a Dewalt motorized backpack sprayer, and I had weeds growing back a few days later. I sprayed that 3 weeks in a row. It killed the weeds that were there, thats about it. The vinegar shit doesn't work.

Been there done that.

Cover with cardboard and wait a month.

Bonus when cardboard gets wet you can lift it up and if you see termites, you have termites.

Wow, I'm impressed...with the weeds. That's some sturdy foliage you got there. I guess your best options are ground cover or livestock, unless you want to keep pulling by hand. Goats, sheep, or cows will eat the weeds and promote the grass growth, but you need two bare minimum. Otherwise they will get lonely and depressed and die of disease. I recommend a combination of two goats and a cow. Sheep need to be sheared at least once a year, but their wool also makes good grown cover that doesn't breakdown. You can put around the base of trees to keep them clear of weeds and overgrowth

Bags of concrete where it makes sense

Moss on ground where you need grass.

It spreads to your roof though but if you flash roof apex with copper then rain water will kill it naturally, forever.

Cover crop. Get something else going to out-compete the weeds.

I'm using wildflower and clover.

The worst weed here is Stinknet (Globe Chamomile). It's not really an issue if you pull it while it's alive and before it goes to seed.

I have that mostly taken care of now.

Still I have a bit of a crabgrass issue.

I don't use any sprays. Only manual pulling.

My brother likes to use a solution of water, dish detergent, and a little gasoline to kill weeds, though, in-case that's what you wanted.

Yeah I have 7k sq ft of lawn so the weed areas are all surrounding that in a rock barrier about 10 ft outward all around. I just go this new stuff called Surmise Speed Pro XT. Hopefully it works and I can just use this shit forever.

Vinegar works, but you'll want the high concentration stuff, which can be spendy. It does not descriminate though, it will kill everything. I use it in places where I want nothing to grow. Hard to justify the cost for large areas. And it probably won't last too long where you are. Have you considered fire?

I have the 30% vinegar, it only kills what's there, it doesn't prevent anything. Any rain washes it completely away.

I tried fire only on the front yard, the torch takes so long per weed, it was easier to pull em out.

Weed control in California is different from the east coast. I escaped 'lawn' territory almost 45 years ago. Still remember that "mowing the lawn" bullshit though.

I hear boiling water works good but it depends how big your yard is. I use the Monsanto shit myself. Works great, I get the concentrated version and dilute it myself though

I've bought preen, 30% vinegar, round up, tenacity and Surmise. No one else has said any defoliants.
