From the clips I have watched, the iron dome defense system barely seemed to even be in use. In the past you could very visibly see rockets being taken out by missiles and dozens of explosions in the sky. This time it was practically nothing.
Either the system literally failed or it was intentionally hampered to allow the destruction.
It wouldn't be the first time they have let themselves be attacked so they can cry about being the poor victim. If Oct 7th taught us nothing else, it's that the Israeli government is willing to take a black eye and sacrifice civilians so it can have some form of justification to wage a far greater response when they counter attack the counter attack that they created
