Which programs do y'all use for editing photos on desktop or mobile? The programs I used updated themselves and removed the features I need. I'm going through lists of recommened programs and they all don't have basic features

All I want to do right now is take an image with RGBA properties and put it on top of another image. Samsung's gallery app took out this functionality, google photos took it out, samsung notes doesn't have the feature anymore, i'm now on snapseed and it also doesn't appear to have this feature.

this has happened so many times where i've tried doing basic image editing and simple features are not there, and i spend all day going through what are supposedly the best apps for simple image editing and i NEVER find what I'm looking for.

which program can i use for basic functions?

Imagemagick scripts mostly.

Then Gimp for when more or something I haven't figured out how to script is needed. Scrot for screen capture.

My shit updates when I say so because I'm not a cucked gay faggot.

dude.... do you actually use that program? this doesn't match the request in so many ways

people, please do not recommend things you do not use. ZERO programs that I've been spammed with or recommended by college students for the past FIFTEEN YEARS has never worded they way they said it did, and i have never continued to use anything they've recommended to me because the program isn't finished or wasn't at all what they recommended. i guess they value dopamine hits over sense.

It's literally freeware Photoshop, my guy.

It's not much like Photoshop, although one feature it has is the LONG learning curve that's required to use it properly ... just like Photoshop. If the designers of GIMP wanted to Photoshop alternative, they should have made the interface and functions like Photoshop. Mastering GIMP as an alternative to mastering Photoshop is like having to master two different programs. Yes, it's powerful, but so what if it takes forever to learn how to use it.

Quit drinking or blame your chromosomes or something, but it's a fine (free) program.

You replied with a personal slur, but didn't address my issue with the program. Whatever, fine, I don't care. I didn't say is was a bad program, only that it's just as hard to learn as Photoshop.

Isn't it disgusting how programs that have been around and know what people want take away the most essential functions.

It's like apple taking away the headphone jack.

yeah, and i'm forced into buying low end phones that have an sd card slot and headphone jack. although what the tech industry is doing now is shipping faulty headphone jack cords with anything that takes a headphone jack. for example, i bought a new pair of bose headphones and the cord just doesn't work properly; it's not the phone. so they're using the strategy where they lower the performance/quality of service of something to annoy users into doing what they want.

ok, this appears to have the functions i need. i knew about this program but have only seen it used for video editing (and idk why video editors wouldn't simply blow image editing programs out of the water, but here we are)

thank you my white brother.

what is the situation on this app being tied to apple though? i heard this app is all up in the ZoG. i have no choice but to use it though (which is probably why FAGMAN took the features out of everything else; if everyone is goaded into using one app they can monitor who made what and track them down. oh well, that a risk we have to take)

We're all paying with the total subjugation and destruction of our species.

Also do a search like this for some websites which allow you to do some layering and things for free

Search "online image manipulation websites"

i try to lean towards offline processing. once everything is online we're at the mercy of the ZoG and FAGMAN companies

see if the features you want are here in the manual but I'll bet they are this thing can do everything

https://docs.gimp.org

if i have to read a manual to do simple things I can do in microsoft paint - the program is not what I want

hell, i wanted to find an image editor to free hand crop a motherfucking photo a few months ago and NONE of the popular image editors had the feature at the time. even the list of ones chatgpt gave me turned up NOTHING. NOTHING! that is fucking bullshit and i cannot comprehend how that is possible

What is that Linux version of paint shop pro? I forget the name of it but that's what you should use.

[ - ] glooper 2 points 3 hoursJun 20, 2025 13:02:20 ago (+2/-0)

GIMP?

[ - ] beece 0 points 1 hourJun 20, 2025 15:31:44 ago (+0/-0)

Gimp is nothing like paint shop pro. If only an internet search could be done.
