I grew up in a small beach town, south east Florida. There was about 2700 full time residents there when I was a kid, just around 10,000 during snowbird season. At age 21 I moved to Philadelphia. Talk about culture shock. Never met a fag before that, and there was only like two dozen niggers at my highschool.
My hometown has mushroomed in population, especially the surrounding areas. Last I looked there's around 10,000 permanent resident's but 60,000 between November and April. It's true when they say you can't go home. Home is gone, that's a different place now.
I live in North Central Florida now, and it's a similar story here. It's home to the biggest college in the state, and 60,000 students wash in and out like the tide. Biggest small town I've ever lived in. All the things they say about Florida are true. It's a sunny place for shady people. It's easy to get all the fuck away from it though. Got natural springs about a half hour away, either coast is about an hour. Long story short, the older I get the more it seems like nothing changes and nothing stays the same.
