Jaw and temples definitely can result in this but anywhere on the head really b/c it's more about where the forces impact. Fencing response is generally believed to be an issue with the brain stem. There are many examples of it occurring in televised football games probably with hits to the front and sides more than back/top. TBI also doesn't have to elicit responses like this either; there's quite the range of symptoms. There is also an incredible range of recoveries. Sorry I did my Thesis on TBI and it's continued to remain interesting to me after all this time.
Seems like Blacks are the most likely to demo the glass jaw and Whites the least with the others somewhere in between.
