Nah, shotgun all the way. Shotgun shells can be hand reloaded and they'd have trouble tracking them down. You can practically build a one shot shotgun out of anything lying around, too. Anybody remember that awful Liam Neeson movie about the wolves stalking plane crash survivors? They created improvised shotgun shell firing pins attached to sticks.
