This is Earnesto Bertolli. As a result of this very show he left the lion wrangling business and got into other sorts of performing which eventually led to puppet shows and then that led to public television. He then created Sesame Street and although other creators were responsible for Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch, Earnesto Bertolli created Bert and Ernie. This is why there was NEVER a lion depicted on Sesame Street.
