The novel is far better than the movie and has clever writers tricks in it I noticed... for one... it is COLORLESS (not just the business cards) not one adjective for color used to describe any object in the entire novel of AMERICAN PSYCHO. The shades of white in the business card scene are about the only colors in the book.
I might be the only book reader to notice that fact that the author used a word processor to scrub out all words mentioning colors, despite book jam-packed with nouns.
The only other books stripped of all adjectives for color words are thousands of ancient greek writings. No colors written on any scrap of papyrus or sheepskin. No colors written except "white" "black" "red" and once "the color of bronze". Ancient Greeks refused to write adjectives for color down. No one knows why.
The AMERICAN PSYCHO book is also soaked in themes of "Materialism and Consumption" far more than the film and has more horrific violence in it as well.
I used to read every top 100 trending novel. Don't be me.

My friend handed me the book and without context I started reading. It was a sex to torture scene. Burned her eyeball and something about the wet snapping sounds her entrails made. Kinda messed me up for a min.
Also Ayn Rand wrote Anthem without the word "I". Instead in that distopian future everyone was taught to say "we" to drive home their collectivist bullshit.
