It sucks but systemd has taken over the world. Im fairly familiar with it now and dont mind it as much, but Im also used to solaris that has had the similar svc for a long time. Im glad there are still a few holdouts who didnt cave to Redhat and their cuckboy though. Ive run non-systemd distros(with elogind though) but unfortuanatly had annoying desktop issues. Now im curious about the ones that dont even use elogind. Is it even possible to run stuff like gnome?

i don't get the whole forced adoption angle, distro maintainers have voted to drop support for other init systems, nobody really wants to deal with keeping legacy shit on life support when we have redhat paying for an init system

Is that why my shit crashed last night and went into grub rescue?

A lot of things were better ten or twenty years ago – however, this is not true for Linux.

From a security stand point
Why do we dislike systemd?

Just switch to one of the BSD distros and be done with it.

Bad idea!

SystemD took over the world!

What kind of nut does not like amazing progress?!?!

After Apple implemeted a version of it, systemd was correctly promoted then spread to many osses for 100 great technical reasons.

WATCH every minute of this extremely famous video on systemd (speed it up to 1.25% if you want faster pacing) :

47 minutes of truth bombs from linux.conf.au !

systemd is AWESOME and the future

Already it took over most operating systems. Proof:
Arch Linux - October 2012 switched to Systemd
CentOS - July 2014 switched to Systemd
CoreOS - October 2013 switched to Systemd
Debian - April 2015 switched to Systemd
Fedora - May 2011 switched to Systemd
Linux Mint - June 2016 (v18.0) switched to Systemd
Mageia - May 2012 switched to Systemd
Manjaro Linux - Nov 2013 switched to Systemd
openSUSE - September 2012 switched to Systemd
Red Hat Enterprise Linux - June 2014 (v7.0) switched to Systemd
Solus switched to Systemd
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server - October 2014 switched to Systemd
Ubuntu - April 2013 (v13.04) soon mandatory
Anyone that is not happy with the future of OSses and faster booting and hates systemd typically is uneducated on systemd and never watched this 700,000 view youtube video.

anti systemd people in 2021 are laughed at behind their backs by skilled engineers and people who watched ALL of that video :

SBBH leftist paid jews downvoted your submission in 1 minute after you posted. I never downvote, and am disgusted with the paid downvoters on here ruining the front page.

I see you just made another friend.

Systemd has certainly evolved and is much more stable now. More stable than alternatives due to its widespread adoption. That doesnt mean it was the right path. And there are certainly many skilled engineers that dont like it. It completely goes against the unix philosphy and is mostly overkill for a server(but nice for desktop use). Booting a few seconds faster doesnt mean shit on a server lol. They typically run a single application. But have an upvote for adding to the discussion and to sooth your butt
