Deja vu all over again. Vietnam vet, was supposed to rotate out the first part of Jan 73. Because of the cease-fire agreement, all US troops out in 60 days, all flights were cancelled and everything was rescheduled to get all the troops out. I ended up flying out on Jan 27, the day the cease fire went into effect. The previous night/early morning while waiting in the terminal at Ton Sa Nut air base the local VC bombarded the base will hundreds of rockets before the cease fire went into effect at 8am. The 2 extra weeks I spent sitting around waiting, hundreds of USAF cargo planes landed full of material, weapons and ammo, helicopters and spare parts, etc. The planes were left anywhere they could be parked out of the way, and the aircrews flown out on passenger planes. At least the North Vietnamese waited 2 years before they went to Saigon to take possession of it all.
