A fucking bag. Her life revolves around a fucking bag. Oh, and sleeping late. My life revolves around watching my children grow and helping them when needed, providing them a foundation for their own lives. My cup runneth over in all things. My happiness is a gently flowing river that seems to have an endless source. I thank God for my life, the path he put me on, my wife, and for the children he put in my life. I hope to see grandchildren and maybe even great grandchildren one day. Knowing that part of me will carry forward is a comforting thought.

This resonates with me. I would add, for my part, that the love of our children is the greatest gift that anyone could have ever given me.

This probably has a lot to with my personal journey and it took the sweet innocence of our oldest when he was little to open my heart to the world. In an odd sort of way, this enabled me to love myself in a way that I believe would have remained inaccessible to me without having first been a father.

A good woman makes you want to be a better man.

Children orient you toward service, kindness, patience and gratitude, making you better still.

What greater gift could one give you than to cause you to strive to become a better version of yourself?

True story...back in 1983 a friend of mine, while traveling Hwy.17 in Canada, pulled over onto the shoulder, way over, so that he could take a piss...he was just inside the tree line when his car got rear-ended by a drunk in a pickup spinning the car around, ejecting his wife through the windshield and setting it ablaze...he was burned into a mess trying to get his screaming kids out. To this day he says his biggest regret is that he didn't die with his kids or at least instead of his kids. The guy was my neighbor, the entire neighborhood felt his grief. Today he is a pillar of strength...BECAUSE OF HIS KIDS.
You'll never know how valuable your loved ones are until.....

For years after the accident nobody would do or say anything to him or his wife relating to their kids but about 20 years ago, Dave (his name) told me that his flashbacks were like real time...BUT...what a change in character after that event. In all honesty the guy turned out to be socially crude and somewhat of an asshole type, and I don't mean that in a toxic way, but I can't blame him. He works construction as a Boilermaker and a Pipefitter and is always given a superintendent position and he's hard on his men ie 10minute coffee breaks and not 11minute, 30minutes for lunch and not 31minutes, he would dock his men a half hour pay for 1minute overage on their breaks...but I respect him for the misery he lives every fucking day...his wife too.

His wife lived after the accident and they're still together today but no more kids, she was really affected hard too and I kind of feel bad now that I didn't take into account her feelings.. it was bad for the both of them.
