His father gave him and his brother away to the muslims as a peace treaty. His brother converted but vlad remained rebellious,as he was raised and trained by his enemy, studying them. He ended up becoming the leader of Walachia and going to war with them. Despite being ridiculously outnumbered he caused a lot of damage with his great tactics until he was betrayed by his allies and crushed.

Worth looking in to, I didn't scratch the surface of this interesting story.
