I worked at a ski resort where some church group kids hiked the hill after hours one spring evening. But, before they did, they untied the tower pad; a big foam pad that covers the ski lift tower to protect people from hitting the steel tower in the middle of the trail, and dragged the pad up the hill. They got on the pad to slide down and then proceeded to hit the tower they just removed the padding from.

I am told, the Fire Department had a hard time holding the laughter back when they got on scene.

I read this story in a Darwin Award book ~12 years ago. I’m the version I read it was drunk adults and they all died when they hit the pole they uncovered.
