I dunno. I do know that the shelves at my local grocery stores are starting to look as gaped as a meth hooker’s teeth. With no rhyme or reason. One brand of something will be gone, but another brand will still be there. So you can still get what you need, but it’s like the the system is glitching out like an old smartphone.

Based on the price drop on my low-to-high risk trust funds, I'd say yes, something is going on.

Restaurants have cut a lot of hours down nowhere is 24/7 anymore. Some stuff is empty on shelves but that is the only thing that hasn't happened. Shelves are full. Everything else is bad. I'm still buying canned foods just in case.

No bare shelves around me although I live in the country and most folks have big pantries, I don't shop in town so I can't speak for their store shelves.

I also noticed that the ports of Vancouver & Montréal don't have 200 ships offshore waiting to be unloaded unlike in L.A.

My industry has slowed down a bit because of high steel prices, not big projects though. It's mostly the smaller customers who are putting off projects or cutting the fat because they can't absorb the higher costs. Some H-beam dimensions can be hard to find but it's mostly uncommon sizes that you always have to source anyways. Right now I pay between 80$ to 100$ per 100#, structural tubing around 150$ per. Two years ago beams would average 35$ to 60$ per & tubing was aroung 90$.

Commercial clear diesel (refilling your equipment tank on-site) didn't move upwards for a long time, last time I checked the trends in August it was still hovering around 1$/L. I should check up on that.

Prices in stores have definitely gone up across the board but many suppliers are also gouging under covid pretenses, not sure how much of that rise is actually inflation.

Good workers are hard to find but it's been like that for years in trades, immigrant worker agencies are definitely working hard to get people replaced, I have two email spam boxes filled with offers.

We're seeing shortages, but for the moment only "first world problem" levels of shortages. No one is going hungry, people are just missing out on their preferences. Some things are brittle, but there's a lot of depth to our economy.

Will it collapse further? It's not impossible. IMO the real worry is fuel, but at least in the US we won't see fuel disappear entirely. Rationing is possible.

In the meantime I picked up some large quantities of rice and beans, just in case.

All the talk of supply chain this, economy that, and it’s all coupled with the latest report that retail spending was up 8% last month or quarter or whatever.
