He's the quiet guy who just observes the world and does nothing to harm or interfere. He's also the type who feels the weltschmerz ("world grief") but at least doesn't lay a trip on others (that's how I interpreted him anyway).

Edit: Plus, oh my goodness, I love his grandma. She's got great sewing skills and a beautiful heart to make that for him.

I was afk when it came out and no explanation was ever seen. I think its just a random thing someone made and ran with. So you see this random fellow in random places just existing. Same with lots of comfy instrumental music videos.
