Lemme tell ya something about Kenosha. Until this incident we were a relatively quiet Midwestern town. I have lived there all my life, 50 years, and i still cant believe what happened those nights. There is NO possible way the police could have maintained control across the town, there were officers from several towns and still they were completely outnumbered a 6 million to 1. Hundreds and hundreds of carloads of people streamed in from every direction, the main roads and the county roads. So fucking many people.
I was less than a mile from the main happenings that night, we were prepared to defend our homes along with all of our neighbors. We blocked off our road, gathered our gear and waited, many many many people across town did so, even some folks in the county. There was one point, on the 2nd night, that a large group made their way down Sheridan Rd to 35th St to 22nd Ave, mere blocks from our house. Fortunately the National Guard was stationed at Bradford High School and was able to block their progress then turned them back.
This wasnt isolated to one small part of town, they were settings fires, breaking into stores and racing/marching down streets all over town. The entire time the police were running all over town responding to fires, guns shots and general mayhem. They could have called in police from every county in the area and still would have been fucked. The entire time there were copters and drones flying overhead, lots of them.
Do i blame the police, no, no i do not. I do blame the cities Mayor and our Governor. Everyone knew it was coming and they did nothing. We moved the fuck out of there and up to the Keweenaw Peninsula.
Fortunately the National Guard was stationed at Bradford High School and was able to block their progress then turned them back.
This is the problem. Instead of actually dealing with the situation, they just moved them along into different areas. Did they try and make a single arrest that night? No. Despite the large number of people, it's only a handful that do the actual damage under the cover of the mob. But instead of doing anything, cops rode around in armored cars doing jack shit. Funny how Kyle and a handful of goody guys with guns were able to stop them from burning a car dealership that night, where the police let it happen the night before.
You arent wrong, personally i believe that live rounds should have been used to quell the mayhem. Several times the police were trapped inside their bearcats by mobs of morons. In one particularly bad neighborhood they were tapped until the National Guard showed up to help, pathetic.
