How was y’all's Thanksgiving?

submitted by 1Icemonkey to Cooking 3.4 yearsNov 26, 2021 03:59:52 ago (+8/-0)     (Cooking)

Baked a nice porchetta, my first one. It came out as planned. Pretty grubbin' if you like bacon, and who doesn’t like bacon? I used an actual slab of pork belly around the pork loin, rather than bacon around a pork loin. Wife made a killer fresh green bean dish and some bomb artisan potatoes in the oven(s).
It was just the two of us. We’re around people all day everyday, so it’s nice to just chill at home together.

You must be in a different time zone than I, or you work a weird shift, however, that sucks mang. I don’t care for these holidays, any of them for that matter. All they do is interrupt my flow of work and shit I want to do. Worst part is anyone wanting me to do something. Go here, buy that, decorate this, go there, see them, all that crap. That’s why I say “no” to invites and just stay home with wife. Hell, sometimes she goes and I stay home. Cool with me.

Christmas is fake and gay. First the jews stole it from the pagans to help them implant their mind control virus across Europe, then they replaced the parts about family and community with rank consumerism by writing a bunch of christmas songs that aren't even about their fake and gay christfag religion. When you're so subversive that you have to subvert your own subversion because it's no longer subverting enough you know you're a jew.

Not sure what "Christmas" you're talking about, but until the 19th century, it wasn't a holiday, it a religious observation, at least for the forebears of this country, the English. For centuries Christmas marked the birth of our Lord, and it was observed by going to mass. German celebrations were certainly influence by their earlier pagan festivals, but the English didn't, which is where we large got our customs from. The Christmas tree wasn't a thing in England until Victoria married Albert and she wanted to give her German husband something to remind him of home.

We can thank Charles Dickens for sentimentalizing Christmas and turning it into a something that was all about everything other than the birth of Christ on earth. Americans did this also to some extent, but it really accelerated after Moore published his ridiculous "'Twas the Night Before Christmas".

Nevertheless, even with all of the ritual and festival added to the mix, the majority of Americans in the 19th century and early 20th century regarded it as a religious observation and went to church on Christmas day.

jews removed the religious observance from Christmas (especially in music and movies) and replaced it with festival. Music for Christmas was entirely carols and church music, which emphasized the birth of Christ. We largely don't listen to carols any longer, only the jew-written songs about the "holiday" and "winter wonderland" and sentimental bullshit like that.

I did a low country boil with shrimp, scallops, locally made sausage, sweet potatoes, red potatoes and corn. Ate like a king and then sat around a fire with a whiskey bottle and a weed pipe. Pretty good time if you ask me.

Sweet potatoes in the boil too? How's that? What whiskey?

[ - ] PeckerwoodPerry 1 point 3.4 yearsNov 26, 2021 09:32:36 ago (+1/-0)

They were white fingerling sweet potatoes that we picked up from the farmers market. We peeled them before hand, and just sliced them. They were fucking awesome. Jameson whiskey, having some in my coffee right now.

Good call, I'm off today and didn't think to start drinking before my morning deuce. All I have planned today is to install a cd player in the truck, and then maybe drive around listening to a cd

Sounds like a damn good day. I'm off today as well, I think I might go fishing.

I've been sick with something for the past week or so. It's not as bad as strep throat, just more like severe allergies. I just have a runny nose and a sore throat, but I feel completely fine, otherwise. I was planning on going to drive down to my brother's home to have Thanksgiving with him and his girlfriend, but decided to be safe and just stay home. We'll probably meet up this weekend or later in the week to finish off some leftovers together.

You have cooties and you're going to die. Sorry.

Just fine. Close family only this year. I only had to bring the ice.

Grandma made it, who has just about vaxxed herself into one big blood clot. Grandpa thinks Armed Robbery shouldn't have been goodified, and my brother and I said niggerball a bunch while turning off the cowboys game to watch James Bond.
