Is this an overreaction?

The MIL bought us some blankets for the boy, very nice thing to have. About an hour later my wife burned some of the blankets in the fireplace. I didn’t know until the smell hit… Thankfully they were cotton and not some crazy plastic garbage. When I asked her why, she showed me the tiny six pointed stars all over one of them as she threw it into the fire. “I put them where they belong…”

Her mother is now furious with her ‘for overreacting’. Wife says it’s about no one having kike symbolism.

Other than talking to you guys about it I’m staying out of it. I do find it funny as fuck though

It's not good to burn stuff like that in the fireplace. You can build up a bunch of creosote in your chimney, and can cause a house fire. Get a nice galvanized steel trash can for her to burn kike stuff in outside.

It wasn’t the best way to dispose of it, I was upset with her at first but she promised to clean the chimney out for me to make up for it.

We don’t put blue and white together in our home now that I think of it. We use more earthy tones. That’s just a cohencidence though…

I dont care much about symbolism so personally I would say yes. Worst case scenario you could just bleach them.

A better thing to ask is if it was the right thing for your family.
Since your wife cares about symbolism (and the past history that gifts of blankets have) I say its the right thing to do.
