tell me about the moments of utter perfection in your life when it feels good to be alive!

Hot day yesterday in SEAus. Got back from the beach in the dark and had a shower under the verandah. It was still very warm. The verandah light falling through the cracks in the verandah. Water was hot and felt thick and luscious. Critters in the swamp making their night noises. Surrounded by the fragrance from the garden. And then it started to gently rain. Plop, plop as giant drops hit the monstera leaves. Good to be alive.

My point/observation if there needs to be one? Often it's the little things in life that give us great pleasure not necessarily sitting on a deck chair on a Caribbean cruise!

Here I am in the middle of what I would call THe STORM. I had an entire rest day truly off… and I spent it catching up on the real news.

It was having a friend, someone to visit with and talk about just how crazy the world is becoming that made it a good moment.

While I long for the warm moment with a dousing of fresh water you described, I’m lately having the antithesis experience where I must produce my own warmth.

This is something to never forget, and I have always seen it in your posting. Warmth is from your own hot or coldness. Do not become too comfortable, lest you forget the other.

I'm glad you told us that. Goats are strange people imo - eager to tell about their hates but not their loves!

"Water was hot and felt thick and luscious". I have been criticised for these words but they are accurate. For your undoubted fascination in my showering, after the initial scrub I take the nozzle (rose) head off the shower and the water shoots out in a thick, decadent stream which I use to massage my scalp and lower back!Divine!

Douglas Adams said that the secret to life, the universe and everything was a perfect temp shower. Thank you for once again proving to me that is so.

mmm. Not sure. IMO there's nothing low about life's minor pleasures for they can be truly uplifting. But I know what you mean.

A lot of problems in life can actually be traced to expectations in general.

Not having expectations can be a blessing of happiness.

Go into a movie not expecting anything? can be pleasantly surprised.

Go into a movie with a lot of hype expecting to be blown away? Looking at you, Marvel and Matrix 4, etc.

In a lot of marriages - especially on the wife's end - expectations are what cause problems and divorce. Does she ever "expect" him to read her mind? know what she is thinking? know why a day is special to her? and then when the husband doesn't produce the proper response, she is crushed.

Anyone "expecting" to receive a parcel or gift on a certain day? only to find that it hasn't arrived, is delayed, or not even sent? Big disappointment.

The list could go on and on.

Very true - especially about the female's expectations viz married to a Prince with a mansion in the 'burbs and a bevvy of servants. Not every woman can be a Meghan Markle.
