Those debts are hers and the creditor can eat shit. This is a common issue when a spouse dies. If it's not a joint account the creditor eats it. No, the spouse isn't liable to keeping paying cell phones, credit cards, cable tv and whatever other bullshit she signed up for. Back when the wife used to call herself "Mrs. <husband's first name> <married name>" then maybe. But not now. Women can bank on their own. So fuck banks.

That's not traditional. Women traditionally couldn't take on debt or even open a bank account. They weren't allowed to manage a financial life until married, at which point they became something like "Mrs. Chad Anderson". They literally used their husband's name to do business.
