Easy enough. RF is very powerful when harnessed with the proper knowledge and equipment.

No need to there are already alternate sources available which could be used to communicate in these circumstances albeit not as convenient as just phoning home.

Pauline has my vote, put the majors last.

Wait. They actually turned off cell service? I thought that was a joke someone was making

Cell service for calling was extremtly patchy, I got two short calls in that got cut off after trying heaps. Internet was completely solid blocked. But north of Old Parliament House both calls and net were fast and perfect... I was just past King Geroge Crescent on Parkes Place West when I noticed people making phone calls and checked.

Anyone going to a protest these days needs to take alternative communication equipment with them. I believe Canada government has started blocking phone communication at the bridge standoff so the general public cant see whats happening.

I'm training a pigeon for the next one.

Bit slow for real time comms :) There are mesh and lowra systems which might do a faster job.

Bitch, my pigeon can do 157KM/hr!

I think your pigeon is in reality a peregrine falcon :)

Maybe it's possible that they were handling more connections than anybody ever expected and... filled up their logs or something? Idunno how these things work; it's probably bull shite.

That's what I thought originally but Pauline is saying inside parliament house it was working fine but just outside the doors it was blacked out. Just past Old Parliment House it was working fine. In hindsight it was definitely blocked and not overloaded. It stopped and started working in the same location, just north of old parliament house - new parliament is to the south, we marched southbound across the bride then past OPH.

Sounds a lot like deliberate signal jamming.

Because it is!

There is a media blackout on the whole thing. This is normal for Australia these days. They even tried to shut down airspace in vic so no one could get helicopter footage of the crowds. It's pretty normal stuff now.

Coming soon to USA [if it hasn't already been that way all along and they hide it from us better with help from the likes of cnn and such]...
