There are plenty of perfectly and not overly modded, solo or duo 2x or 3x gather rate servers that only wipe once a month, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the game before you get to start over next month.

A group of my friends are hard into the game and play on highly competitive servers. I think my best friend has over 1000 hours logged on steam. The gameplay is too intense for me (you really need a lot of help from a friend/entry into a clan to progress), but I appreciate that you can say "nigger" and "faggot" and not get banned (at least the servers they're on) by tranny mods.

I've wanted to try it. Too many other things competing for my time. Maybe one day. Started playing Project Zomboid recently and it's really scratched that survival itch. I hook up a controller and a TV, it makes me feel like a kid in the 90s again.

Project Zomboid has been on my want list for a while, but I haven't been able to commit. I really like survival horror rpgs and don't mind permadeath (get good faggot), but the game seems to have an autist level in-depth PC skill customization/talent tree, and I tend to get overwhelmed with that crap when I just want fun, repeatable gameplay. Something in its favor: the graphics remind me of early 2000s Sudden Strike, which brings back fond memories of me and my best bud replaying the German campaign over and over again and (t)rolling over the Allies with superior weaponry. As they say... GERMAN STEEEEL

There's not really a skill tree. You can pick various skills for your character when you start. I just chose a default build till I knew what I was doing. But the inventory system is autist level in-depth. You really have to manage it, with various containers and bags. Can't say I love it, but I haven't played another game with a similar inventory system.
