What did Jesus do to get crucified and a crown of sharp thorns placed around his head?

That's a pretty wicked way to punish someone. What did he do where some people felt that was an appropriate punishment?

Said he was the son of god. They said “blasphemy”. Punishment for blasphemy was death at the time. Death was crucifixion. The thorny crown was the jews way of mocking him for his claim to be the “king” of jews, or as it were, his “people”.

It was a standard punishment. A lot of people were given it. His sentences were things like leading a revolt, claiming to be the king of jews, etc. But essentially he was killed on the same grounds as Socrates, because he was generally disruptive and a lot of people wanted him dead.

He told the jews to rise above the scribes and pharisees, the rabbis. The fact that he was born a jew is irrelevant. The jews made their choice and worship rabbis and their book of boiled filth and egomania. Jesus sent his apostles OUT to spread the word among "HIS people", not jews.
