If you aren't 13 and already picking up Python, you probably aren't actually interested in programming. It's a "self starting" hobby. So, if you haven't started yet, it's probably not for you.

So, whenever someone asks how to start programming, that's a red flag.

But, if you want to try it. Take up the equivalent of Python 101 at your local community college. This will give you some structure in learning and you'll have people to ask questions and the social network you can build from meeting people in real life is valuable, you'll probably land a job from someone you meet.
That will probably be $600, but it's worth it if you know how to milk what you get.

Check out codecademy, and start doing your own projects after that, and googling anything you run into. It's largely a self-taught skill with lots of resources out there to facilitate that.

If you want to be a good coder, you need to be good at math. Otherwise you can do basic things but your scope will be limited.

Python has a lot of demand and is pretty easy. Work on the problems on leetcode.com and you should be able to pass a technical interview/coding test.
