Double edge sword. There is nicer stuff to steel, but there's also a raised threat level.
Most burglars aren't looking for a fight, otherwise they'd just do smash and grabs in stores.

Yes. They'll also put tape over your keyhole.

It's a method of determining if the place is being lived in. If it goes untouched then it's fairly certain that nobody lives there and easy pickings.

Oh god, that's a possibility. The amount it costs to fix is so much lower then what they'd make.
Saw a place on the mountain. Fuckers broke in and burned the furniture. There was firewood right outside.
Most of the time people will leave valuables in their jewelry box while on vacation.
Tons of possibilities.
You may just end up with squatters.
