Moringa Documentary; "The Miracle Tree"

Claims are made that its tiny leaves contains 7 times the Vit C of oranges, 4 times the Vit A of Carrots, 4 times the Calcium of milk, 3 times the Potassium of Bananas, and 2 times the protein of yogurt.
It also has almost all of the essential amino acids available as simple proteins that we humans require that are easily digestible.

I've got about 20 seedlings of Moringa growing right now. Well, trying to grow. Clay soil doesn't seem to be doing it any favors.

Took forever to get our camote to take in clay. Shit can't be stopped now.

It actually bloomed flowers too never seen that

Read a bit yesterday... clay might have drainage issues (they said it would grow in anything but prefers a sand loam)

I've tried growing them twice with no luck here.

Third try's the charm?

Moringa is frost and drought tolerant. It will thrive in poor soil for tropical and sub-tropical climates.

Add perlite and sand to a soil mix so the soil is not waterlogged, keep it in a pot as it's an invasive species, and prune to 2-3m so you can continually harvest the soft new leaves.

It's essentially a weed and short of snow, it will survive being neglected.

Whiteflies and some kind of fungus got the last one. All the leaves fell off the one before that...

Maybe I watered them too much? I mean, is watering them at all too much? I'm gonna just stick the next one in the dirt where some lawn used to be and see what happens. Haven't tried that approach yet, but it worked fine with the citrus and peach trees which are already providing splendid quantities of fruit!

Whiteflies and some kind of fungus

Whiteflies = too much water (wet compost)
Fungus = way too much water

Okay, so they're THAT kind of tree!

Perfect for the barren wasteland part of the garden that only gets rain water! I wanted them to grow up big and fast and figured watering them reguarly would achieve this result as it has for so many other specimens. Derp, live and learn!

Holy shit, those are edible?!

There's a bunch of ancient ones growing along the back fence! Nice to know.

Haha they are not good, but you can make preserves with sweeteners that aren’t as bitter.

Get your green thumb out of your ass and in the soil.

Thanks for reminding me of this stuff.

I've got pounds of it and have gotten out of the habit of using it.

[ - ] heraclitus 1 point 2.9 yearsJun 8, 2022 19:39:45 ago (+1/-0)

So they gave the tree to the africans, who didn't know how to use it?

[ - ] UncleDoug [op] 0 points 2.9 yearsJun 9, 2022 02:13:33 ago (+0/-0)

Yeah lol.

Some christian tried to save the niggers and they had no idea how to use it to save malnutrition and every other ailment on the continent.

This is legit, a friend had a moringa tree at his last house. We would eat the leaves right off the tree and go to work. I could go all day without food, no problem.

C'mon ... Which island?

I'll start waipahu wainae, haleiwa. Nigger areas for sure .

The only other person who I've ever heard say they didn't eat the food from there was military... Is that your case?

[ - ] Anus_Expander 1 point 2.9 yearsJun 8, 2022 19:34:42 ago (+1/-0)

Those are neighborhoods on Oahu, not islands, fakka

[ - ] Gowithit 0 points 2.9 yearsJun 8, 2022 19:45:08 ago (+0/-0)*

No shit you fucking haole. There is more than one island. That's why I asked. It would be kind of stupid to ask Oahu then you come out with "there's more than one"

But you recognized them. So was it Oahu? That place succccckkks. I will never go back.

Don't eat nigger food ..Hawaii kai?
