I was fairly pro vax for awhile. Until about 5 years ago, when I decided to research whether there was anything to the theory that MMR was causing autism. And I was pretty skeptical. But I changed my mind almost immediately, because it turns out there’s tons of support for that happening and there is a perfectly rational explanation for the mechanism that is causing neurological damage in vaccinees.

Im not against vaccines and I think select vaccines may be worth the trade offs in some countries for some conditions. The rubella vaccine basically eliminated deafness in children afaik.

People don’t realize that every one of the most common diseases that vaccines took credit for eradicating, or for lessening case numbers greatly, were all in decline before widespread vaccination programs came about. The decline directly followed nationwide upgrades to sanitation and water treatment, which is most definitely what led to the declines. Polio still exists in several African communities despite years of mass vaccination campaigns, and that’s because they have no sanitation or water treatment to keep the sewage carrying polio virus out of the water they drink.
