I bought tickets to go see the Scandal concert in Plano, TX on July 26th, but my friend can't make it so I have a spare. This is a bit of a trip for me and I hate the idea of traveling that far just to see a concert by myself and not hang out with anyone, so I'm offering my spare ticket to anyone here who'd like to meet up and hang out. One goat told me a couple of months ago that he'd like to go, but he wasn't sure if he could make it and I haven't heard from him since so I'm making a public offer to everyone here. If no one here wants it, I'll try one or two other sites that I hang out on next.

Scandal is an all girl Japanese rock band, which I know most goats wouldn't be into, but they've been my favorite band for years. I actually know this cringe weeb shit from back when I was a kid and watched the Bleach anime. I think 3 or 4 of their songs were used as opening themes.

They're actually catchy too, ffs.

Fun fact: Bands in Japan make more money selling their music to anime and game studios than they do in standard music contracts.

Yep, Bleach is how I discovered them. They had two openings in Bleach. Shoujo S and Harukaze. They've also covered two songs by other bands that were used as openings for Bleach. Asterisk and Alones. Bleach is coming back to TV in October and I'm really hoping they use the Scandal cover of Asterisk for the first season. It would be perfection.

Shoujo S is the only one catchy enough to listen to unironically. The other ones really aren't my thing.

I watched all of the Bleach anime but felt like it REALLY dropped hard in quality after Aizen was defeated. I didn't read the manga because comic books are for losers, I'm not a weeb, and I grew up. But several of my friends did. All I can say is, it seems like another part of my childhood was butchered and I won't be watching the final season when it does come out. I have no interest in it.

I could probably talk for hours on how much I hate the way Kubo fucked his own lore and retconned the shit out of everything. Change for the sake of change and unintersting plot threads abound.

Anyways, as far as the OPs go, I always liked D-Technolife and Shoujo S the best. Asterisks I actually disliked quite a lot despite it's popularity. Velonica was good. Uuuuhhh... Rolling Star was another one that I remember. Change and people who like Change can go jump off a fucking building. Alones sucked cock too. That's it.

Also, my friend and I tried rewatching the arrancar arc of Bleach and playing what we have dubbed the "Orihime drinking game" take a drink every time Orihime says "Kurosaki-kun"
We made it 2 episodes and were pretty sure a 3rd would be death.

The Scandal cover of Asterisk is way better than the original. Partially because of how they did the mixing with Mami from one speaker, Tomomi from the other, and Haruna in the center channel. It's one of my favorite things to listen to at high volume in my car.

Rolling Star is also really good. I'm one of those people who liked Change, but when I checked out the rest of Miwa's songs I couldn't really get into her. Her greatest hits album only has two songs that I like on it.

Shoujo S was definitely the best of all the openings. It had one of the best songs and the video part was hands down the best. Especially with Orihime and Rukia dancing.

I read the manga and I can confirm that the final arc is kind of shit, but I'm going to watch it anyway. Most of the problems with Bleach were because of Kubo's editor. He wanted the story to focus more on Ichigo's friends, which is why they started to get powers yet the story never went anywhere with that. The shinigami were too popular so they got all the focus.

Kubo's newest work, Burn the Witch, is much less flawed than Bleach. I enjoyed it a lot.

I never got around to watching Burn the Witch although I always told myself I was going to. /shrug

The Soul Reapers (I use the English term because I think it's more fitting than "death god" and it sounds cooler) were definitely the highlight of the series for me. But Chad was always one of my favorite characters. I also thought Orihime was a massive waste of potential with her being relegated to worthless damsel in distress. Not to mention the other amount of sheer stupidity she caused. I'm sure Kubo could've done a better job. But I think you're right, it was the editors that fucked him. Some writers like the DBZ writer do a really good job managing the BS that editors put them through... Others end up like Bleach.

Although, the writer does claim that it ended the way he always envisioned it and swears by a lot of the main plot decisions... Which makes me think I was going to end up disliking it anyways. Most of my gripes come from the retconning/"fleshing out" of character backstories in the final arc. Mostly Ichigo's mom and dad, Unohana and Kenpachi, and several others.

Interesting. I actually liked most of the stuff you didn't. I even cosplayed as Ichigo's dad a few times because we have the same hair and similar build and jawline. My biggest complaint with the ending was that Ichigo got a new bankai and we never even got to see it. iirc He got his swords broken again before he could use it and then won the final battle through some kind of bullshit. There were also a few other bankais we never got to see, like most of the Vizards. Even though we saw Unohana's bankai, I can't even tell you what the fuck it did. Hopefully they flesh that out in the anime.

Ichigo being a quincy and his hollow powers coming from his mom being attacked by a hollow conveniently created by Aizen was nonsensically "coincidental" and really bothered me. Not to mention she was super powerful so Kubo had to create some absolute bullshit plot contrivance that would make her weak enough to be killed by Grand Fisher. This should be a lesson to all authors. In a story with infinite scaling, do not rewind time and start adding in characters that are 500x stronger than anything seen at the beginning because it fucks the entire power scale.

I also didn't like his post-full bring design very much and feel like his dual sword design was even worse. His dual sword bankai was just ugly as shit.
Same agreement with you on Unohana's bankai, no one knows what it actually does. Her whole thing with Kenpachi was fucking dumb. Personally, I think giving Kenpachi shikai and bankai ruined his main character trait of being the guy who didn't have either but was still an extremely powerful monster. I'd rather it have stayed that way. (Don't forget how Yachiru somehow has her own sword with its own powers yet is actually part of Kenpachi and just disappears out of no where because lol)

Yeah, Ichigo having all the powers of every known race in the series was kind of dumb. I also hated the fact that he lost his powers three different times by the end of the series. The main character losing their powers in my most hated trope. Losing his badass fullbring swastika was the one that probably pissed me off the most.

I didn't mind the thing with Yachiru too much. It doesn't make the most sense ever, but her being Kenpachi's zanpakuto had been a fan theory for a long time so I didn't mind so much that the fans turned out to be right.

I think all the missing bankais are probably because Kubo ran out of ideas and I don't really expect the anime to flesh anything out. Despite all the flaws we've talked about, I'd still give Bleach a 7/10 though. It was the first anime to make me go read the manga when it ended and to this day only three anime have made me do that. Bleach, Black Clover (no bully), and Talentless Nana.

The Yachiru fan theory made no sense anyways because Yachiru actually had parents. It's stated one time early on in Kenpachi's backstory that her parents were murdered before Kenpachi adopted her.

Personally, Dangai Ichigo was my favorite design and I refuse to acknowledge any form of his being more powerful than Mugetsu. A friend and I regularly joke that the arcs after Aizen arc are fan fictions and didn't really happen. Or that the entire arc is actually just Aizen using his Kyoka Suigetsu to troll the audience and the whole thing is fake.

Bleach is still my favorite animoo of any that I've seen, despite its flaws. It was definitely the spark that ignited my weeb phase growing up.

i USED to listen to some japanese progressive rock/jazz (fusion). Can't remember their name now. I was intrigued because they had an anglo drummer (I'm a drummer (or was at that time)). I guess japs SUCK at drums. Probably becuase they SUCK.

I think Scandal's drummer, Rina, is pretty amazing. One of the few bands where I pay a lot of attention to the drums. I find it hilarious that she's so tiny that she has to use a double pedal to make her drums loud enough. She's actually been hospitalized from playing too hard too.

Like I said, I know what double pedals are used for, but Rina said that it's hard to make loud enough sounds with one leg and that double pedals helps. Funny thing is that as good as it is, it's one of their worst songs. They are just that good. I absolutely adore them. When I first started listening to their music they were still in high school and I was barely out of high school myself. Now all of us are in our 30s and I've literally watched them grow from cute high school girls into beautiful older sister types. I even started learning Japanese in hopes that I would get to talk to them someday and now that I have a VIP ticket to hang out with them before the show it's actually going to happen. Totally unbelievable. I thought I'd have to go to Japan if I ever wanted to talk to them offline. I talk to the drummer on youtube sometimes. She's very nice and her vlogs are always cute.

If you're interested in running into a user randomly in real life, just put up some sort of flag/symbol.

I'd suggest make a tshirt with the V and A triangles from the Voat logo. Just a plain tshirt with iron on transfers that you can get from Walmart, online, or any craft store.

They're just triangles, that mean nothing to most people. But if you get the colors close, it'd be recognisable to us. I'd come over and say "hi, nice shirt" if I ever saw that. Actually, I'd probably say, "Hey, I hate kikes too."
