Ebay just sent me a tax form for selling my own shit that I already paid tax on, that the buyer also paid tax on. Guess my take is a third lower than I thought.

I sell crap on ebay sometimes. It's pretty fucked though, hardly any margins.

Facebook market place and Gumtree both have no fees so I usually list there as well with "free pick up or postage at buyers expense", I don't have to worry about ebay fucking up the postage price estimator which has happened, as I quote on enquiry.

Traffic is best on ebay, then FB and then gumtree, which I think is dying but it still has decent success for big things like furniture.

FB is bit more time consuming than ebay with all the "is this still available?" Messages without follow up and too many people who say they will buy but no show.

Well, I guess there's no reason to use eBay anymore. Imagine buying something new and paying a tax on it. Then, you sell it and for some reason, THAT person has to pay a tax on it. It's been the reality for used car purchases here for a while but bringing it to eBay makes it clear that the people in government have no idea how to pay for their many promises, have no interest in cutting the fat and love to gouge the citizen. Fuck 'em.

Except when you buy a new car, you reduce the sales tax price by the price you sell your old car for. If I sell my used car for 10k and write 500 on the form, I pay taxes on an additional 9500 for my new car.

It's been ruined for ages.

I only lost a few hundred bucks on stupid shitty car parts. They said issues happened and to give them some time. I gave them some time. I complained, they asked for more time, I gave them more time. In the end, ebay said I let too much time to lapse and too bad, even after including them in this idiotic process. I never went back and I never plan to. I hope you never go back, either. They deserve NO business, at all, ever.

But that is just, like, my opinion. Man.

their customer service team is purposely trained to give you the run around rather than any definite answer that might be construed as 'legally binding'.
