Linux without Microshaft taint

submitted by GenericVoatNameNumber6million to Linux 2.8 yearsJul 26, 2022 19:52:02 ago (+2/-0)     (Linux)

I have been out of the I.T. scene for a while. My machine recently died, and I am looking for a flavor of Linux without "improvements" from Microshaft.

Any thoughts on an O.S. that would be more old school Linux than the recent version of Ubuntu?

I recommend

Devuan + LXDE/XFCE Classic

and

Peppermint with Libre Software + devuan base (no soyd) + LXDE/XFCE Classic

Not Linux but TempleOS is pretty old school and about as far from MS as you can get.

My favorite is Ultimate Edition, but it wouldn't run my mixxx for my Internet radio, so it's Linux Mint now

maybe arch or gentoo? I'm a kubuntu fag though so lack personal experience on the matter.
