Whenever I mix quikrete according to directions (6 to 9 pints water per 80 lbs bag), I can walk on it wet without leaving a mark. I stir the shit out of it and it's still just damp gravel. It always cures up for me seriously hard and strong, but it in no way acts like this. I see people online pushing j-bolts into wet concrete. Lol, no. I may as well try pushing it into a packed gravel road. I pour (more like fill and pack) around these things. I'm always envious of this slumpy stuff I see in pictures. Is there a newsletter I can subscribe to?

Call me dumb and uninformed, but isn't this style of concrete caustic to the skin? Isn't that toddler in for a worse afternoon then the person who has to re-smooth that out?

You could look for a high slump mix or get a superplasticizer additive.

Little Billy is done for, forget him. It's probably for the best because indications are he was dumb even for a stupid kid. Fortunately you're still young, you can have more kids and perhaps you'll have better luck next time.
