If you care to know the culprit, get a night cam that starts recording when it detects motion. Once you know your enemy, finding a counter will be easier.

Hmm just throwing out an idea. Do those frequency things work? You know like the commercials used to advertise a little plug in thing to drive mice away? If it does maybe grab an old cell phone and find a video of it on YouTube and let it play outside through the night.
I might try it. There's a possum lurking around at night maybe there's a possum frequency.
There's a chance that the frequency stakes might work on burrowing animals, so they don't make their home in the immediate radius, but they don't actually keep them away or anything. Or they could have just not wanted to burrow there in the first place.
meth-heads like tomatoes? I know heroin junkies love milk. we had our house robbed when i was a kid, all our christmas presents were stolen AND the egg nog and milk. cops said it was definitely a heroin junkie cause of the missing milk product.
I think they're always thirsty. They always ordered pepsis at my club, back in the day. Thy'd just sit there like a zombie, drinking pepsi. It did not appear to give them any discernible pep.

yes, do it in an environmentally responsible way. You could keep watch next to your tomatoes, sooner or later the culprit will show up and then you strike!
If it was you, I wouldn't mind, Happy to feed a friend.
I'm thinking it's likely to be the slugs or some flying buggy creature. been seeing lots of grasshoppers around lately, but not sure if they would go after tomatoes.
I've got many grasshoppers around. They may be eating the leaves on my pepper plants but they haven't touched the tomatoes. Looks like it was eaten by a small mammal or rodent.
But yeah, those fuckers murdalize the plant at any rate. We had katydids, but I think the chickens finally got 'em. I don't think grasshoppers or katydids can actually bite through the skin of the fruit like that. Who knows, though! Everything is all fucky in CLOWN WORLD!

Make sure the material isn’t touching the fruit.

Regardless, I would not recommend.

But if it's what the fubar guy above said and it's groundhogs you have my sympathies.
My sister has them running rampant through her yard so she started doing the bin growing.
