I can't answer for your first comment but I agree with your second.

I read somewhere about a young woman who has somehow set up some e device that sends her a message 5 times a day reminding her she's going to die. Overkill (no pun) imo but she's on the money.

Alan Watts described death itself in simple and interesting terms, at least for the non religious.
If you can’t imagine what it was like to wake up, having never been asleep (birth), then it’s probably nothing more then falling asleep, having never been awake.

Realistically, no. If I disappeared today, the contracts I have would just find someone else to take my place. The few people close to me would be sad but that's insignificant in the world scope. Future outlook isn't peachy, either. But like a a boulder at the top of a hill has potential energy, I have potential meaning.

Life only has meaning to the living. Only the living have minds to conceive of the concept that is meaningfulness.

Life has a purpose, which is to increase the amount of life that is like itself, preferably life that is directly created from itself.

What life is, is genes expressing themselves in an environment, we are not merely individual organisms making decisions, but a collection of genes that are each expressing themselves.

All our traits are the net result of those expressions.
Our mental activity is the result of our traits.
Our behavior the expression of our mental activities. Our choices the result of our behavioral traits.
